Annas Højskole started in 2017 running folk high school in Mallorca, but since 2020 we have also had courses in Denmark on the programme – more specifically in Thy and on Læsø.

Læsø – an island with plenty of history and nature

On Læsø we have bought our own course property, a large Bed and Breakfast, Østergård Kultur B&B, located near Byrum, where we can host up to 28-30 participants. The property is a four-winged farm with a lovely park-like garden. Our B&B has a cosy orangery where we eat and sing, among other things. There is also a lecture room/library.

On Læsø there is plenty of history, culture and nature to dive into. There are the truly unique seaweed houses, the salt works, the fishing, the shipwrecks. It is the utterly extraordinary nature, where about 70% of the island is covered by natural areas, and where there is a stillness you have to search far to find. Finally, there is the present-day story of Læsø's challenges today as Denmark's smallest municipality measured by population.

Hikes in Thy National Park

The choice of Thy – this beautiful part of Denmark – was not difficult when you love nature the way we do. For this is where Thy National Park lies, Denmark's largest wilderness, and so, quite naturally, we have hiking on the programme on our Thy course.
