Welcome to Morocco and the enchanting city of Marrakech, a city known for its rich history, vibrant culture and beauty.

Morocco is a country known for its blend of cultures, from Berber, Arab, French and many more. This is a country rich in traditions and history, but also a country in constant development and change. From the rolling sand dunes of the Sahara to the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains, Morocco is a country of contrasts and diversity.

Marrakech, also known as “The Red City”, is one of the most iconic cities in Morocco. The city is known for its historic medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can wander through the narrow streets, discover colourful markets, or souks, and experience the lively atmosphere that makes Marrakech so unique.

During your stay in Marrakech you will stay at a lovely riad, an authentic and zen-inspired riad located in the northern part of the medina. The riad is a former family home that has been tastefully renovated to combine modern comforts with the best of Moroccan tradition. With its three courtyards, two pools and a rooftop terrace where we can both hold workshops but which also has a fantastic view over the medina and the Atlas Mountains, our riad is the perfect place from which to run folk high school courses.

Our folk high school is only a 15-minute walk from the famous Jemaa el-Fna square and within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions.

This is how you stay in Marrakech

Welcome to our folk high school in Morocco – more specifically, welcome to our large riad in the northern part of the medina in Marrakech, which forms the setting for our stay, many meals and several workshops. A riad is a type of dwelling that is very common in Morocco. In well-known interior design magazines around the world, these bed & breakfasts, furnished like small palaces from the 18th and 19th centuries, are celebrated.

In addition to this relatively large riad, we have rented a smaller neighbouring riad where the 3 course leaders stay, but where we can also bring participants over and hold workshops.

Our main riad is a former family home that has been tastefully renovated to combine modern comforts with the best of Moroccan tradition. This unique place expresses the impressive craftsmanship of the medina's artisans. The riad has three courtyards, two plunge pools and a rooftop terrace with a fantastic view over the medina and the Atlas Mountains.

There are kitchens we can work in – and unless the weather promises pouring rain, we are mostly out and up on our rooftop terrace holding workshops, talks and so on.

Our rooms are tastefully furnished and are all equipped with air conditioning that can also provide heat. There is a private bathroom, storage space and of course high-quality beds. Wifi is available free of charge in the courtyards and on the rooftop terrace.

Our folk high school is located in the northern part of the medina, only a 15-minute walk from the famous Jemaa el-Fna square. The riad is also within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions, including Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Museum of Photography and the wonderful Majorelle Gardens. You will also be close to the Sidi Ben Slimane area, where you can experience real Marrakech life and discover true Moroccan culture.
