Entry permit (ETA) for Scotland

Entry permit (ETA) for Danish citizens who wish to travel to the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland)

In order to travel to the United Kingdom (i.e. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), you must apply for an electronic pre-authorisation (ETA - Electronic Travel Authorisation) before entry can take place.

Facts about the ETA pre-authorisation for the United Kingdom:

• You must apply for the ETA prior to travelling to the United Kingdom (i.e. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland).

• The ETA for the United Kingdom takes effect for Danish citizens on 2 April 2025. The ETA can be applied for from 5 March 2025.

• The ETA for the United Kingdom will be linked to your passport, and its validity is two years or until the passport expires – whichever comes first.

What does the ETA for the United Kingdom cost?

• The ETA for the United Kingdom costs 10 GBP (British pounds) per person, and ALL travellers, including infants and children, must have their own ETA.

• Payment can be made by payment card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

What you need for the ETA application for the United Kingdom

• Your physical passport used for the trip

• Access to email

• Payment card / Apple Pay / Google Pay

You should expect it to take about 10 minutes per person to apply for the ETA.

If you want to apply from your phone, you must find the UK ETA app in the App Store / Google Play and download it to the phone before you can apply

Approval of the ETA

• You will receive an email when a decision has been made about your ETA application.

• You will normally receive this email within 3 working days, though in some cases sooner.

• Some ETA applications may take longer than 3 working days.

• You can delete the ETA app once you have finished your application.

• Your ETA application is linked to your passport, and you do not need to show anything else when you enter the United Kingdom.
